As u can see, i have nothing better to do at 1+ am in the morning, decided to see how much my AMD Athlon XP 2400 can tahan

open up the casing(so the 2 fans at the opening is not taking in air)....

opened 2 games, 2 IE, itunes, MSN, photoshop with high resolution pic oopen, to make it work better, decided to press alt tab quickly for many many times.

kind of happy to see that this computer is so durable after so many years of 24/7, and ya, no lag playing maple

Storm Worm descends on Blogger.com

Miscreants behind the Storm Worm have begun attacking Blogger, littering hundreds of pages with titillating messages designed to trick visitors into clicking on poisonous links.

By now, anyone who doesn't live under a rock is familiar with the spam messages bearing subjects such as "Dude what if your wife finds this" and "Sheesh man what are you thinkin" and including a link to a supposed YouTube video. Recipients foolish enough to click on the link are taken to an infected computer that tries to make their machine part of a botnet.

Now Storm Worm, the malware responsible for those messages, has overrun Google-owned Blogger. According to one search, some 424 Blogger sites have been infected. The actual number is probably higher because our search contained only a small fraction of the teasers used by Storm.

"What it really shows to me is how pernicious these guys are and they're indefatigable in trying to get into every place," said Alex Eckelberry, president of Sunbelt Software who blogged about the Blogger assault earlier. "This is a voracious, voracious worm. I don't think anybody in malware research has seen anything like Storm."

Storm has already gone through more lives than a pack of feral cats. It started out in January as an email promising information about a winter storm that was sacking Northern Europe. Since then it's offered sexy photos, electronic greeting cards and login credentials for various online memberships. According to researchers, Storm has infected more than 1.7 million hosts.

Storm's ability to crack Google's defenses is yet another testament to the resiliency of the malware. Google tends to outshine competitors in blocking spam and sniffing out sites that serve up Trojans.

It's unclear exactly how Storm was able to penetrate Blogger. We're guessing it's through a feature that allows bloggers to submit posts through pre-established email addresses, saving them the hassle of having to access Blogger's control panel. Alas, it may also be enabling Storm to yet again morph.

A newly identified malicious program not only messes up its victims' computers, it taunts them too.

The program, called the BotVoice.A

Trojan was first spotted by security vendor Panda Software last week.

It is a Trojan horse program, which the victim must download first. But once installed, it gets nasty.

The Trojan soon sets to work trying to delete everything from the victim's hard drive, while at the same time endlessly repeating an audible message, apparently designed to taunt the victim.

"You have been infected I repeat you have been infected and your system files have been deleted. Sorry. Have a nice day and bye bye," the Trojan says.

It does this by using a text-reading program that is part of the Windows operating system, Panda said. Users of Windows 2003, XP, 2000, NT, ME, 98 and 95 are all at risk.

Unlike a virus, BotVoice.A does not jump from computer to computer on its own, but spreads via peer-to-peer networks or storage devices such as CD-ROMs or USB memory drives.

The Trojan is unusual because unlike most malware written these days, it appears to be designed to perform mindless vandalism, said Roger Thompson, CTO with Exploit Prevention Labs. "I haven't seen brainless vandalism like that for years," he said via instant message. "The good news is that such a Trojan will never be widespread, because everything is profit-oriented now, and there's not a lot of money in taunting someone."

Puzzling - these fake OCBC messages By Lin Yanqin, TODAY Posted: 15 June 2007 0611 hrs

SINGAPORE : He received a text message on his mobile phone claiming to be from OCBC Bank, informing him that he had spent $2,350 at Takashimaya, and asking him to call the bank to verify the transaction.

Mr John Tan was suspicious, as he had neither spent money at Takashimaya nor held any OCBC card. But curiosity made him phone the number in the message.

The man who answered his call spoke in Chinese, claiming to be from OCBC's Chinese department. "He had a Chinese accent, and didn't ask me for any details. Just told me to give him my number and said someone would call me back," said Mr Tan. "It was very silly, I don't know what they were after."

Mr Tan telephoned OCBC and was told the SMS message was one of "a handful" of similar fraudulent messages reported to the bank in the past three days.

The message, in Chinese, informed recipients that their credit cards had been used for purchases, and asked them to call a number to verify whether they had used the cards at those outlets.

"It is not our policy to send our customers SMSes or emails asking them for their personal information or to confirm a specific credit card transaction,"; said Mr Jack Foo, OCBC Bank's head of operational risk, in an email. "Neither will we indicate our customers' account or transaction details in our SMSes or emails."

He also assured customers their accounts with the bank were "safe". The bank has reported the matter to the police, and is assisting in the investigation.

Customers are advised not to respond to such SMSes, and to phone the bank at 1800-363 3333 if they need clarification.
